THE SUMMIT (I COULD GO NO HIGHER)

Limited Edition Fine Art Poster

This artwork documents a moment where elevation, exhaustion, and consequence met.

High in the Sinai mountains — over 800 metres above the desert floor — I reached a summit where there was physically nowhere higher to go. From that position, the landscape revealed itself in full: rows of razor-thin desert peaks stretching for hundreds of miles across the Sinai Peninsula. Sharp, hostile, endless. No settlements. No reference points. Just geology and exposure.

The figure stands alone at the highest point, not in triumph but in balance. Arms open because gravity demands it, not because victory was claimed. At this altitude, there is no margin for error. A misstep means death. The route down is unseen, deceptive, and already draining what little remained.

This summit was not planned. It followed dehydration, injury, and the collapse of logistics. Reaching the top meant survival — but also the realisation that survival had cost everything.

This piece captures that paradox precisely:
when success is achieved at the same moment escape becomes uncertain.

The stripped-back composition, high contrast, and reduced palette are deliberate. There is no heroism here. No rescue. Just scale, altitude, and consequence.

This work forms part of the My Life, My Deaths, Their Plans Failed (2001–2025) poster series and represents the highest physical point reached during the Dahab / Sinai phase.
