This piece records the moment after ascent — when the body stops moving, but the mind finally understands the scale of where it stands.

At extreme altitude in the Sinai mountains, the summit revealed something unreal: rows of thin, blade-sharp peaks stretching across the peninsula for hundreds of miles. No single mountain dominated. Instead, the land repeated itself endlessly — peak after peak, hostile and precise, as far as vision allowed.

Above the figure, a vast celestial form curves across the sky — not symbolic, but perspectival. At this height, the horizon bends. The sky feels closer than the ground below. Orientation collapses. Direction becomes abstract.

The lone figure stands planted, not triumphant. A staff anchors balance, not conquest. This is not a victory pose — it is a survival posture at the limit of human margin, where dehydration, injury, and exhaustion have already stripped everything unnecessary away.

There is no higher point to reach.
There is only the decision of whether descent is possible.

This artwork captures the psychological shift that occurs after survival succeeds but before escape is certain. The silence is total. The scale is overwhelming. The body is still standing — barely.

This poster forms the second summit image in the Dahab / Sinai phase of My Life, My Deaths, Their Plans Failed (2001–2025) and documents the moment when geography itself became the final adversary.
