When my daughter was young, we shared a beautiful bedtime ritual. I would read her Laura's Star, and then we’d look up at the night sky together, searching for Laura’s star before she went to sleep.
Sometimes, she would ask me to stay and said I could sleep under her bed. Those moments meant the world — a small connection in a world full of challenges.
But in July 2011, I was stripped of that time with her. For 14 years, our bond had to be maintained in memory, across barriers. It wasn’t easy, but I never stopped loving her.
This piece of art reflects that love and the bond that never fades, even when time together is lost. The star we once searched for represents our connection, no matter the distance.
