A1 4 A Reason — Digital Artefact Giving
This artwork has been selected as an early digital artefact giving release while the wider A1 4 A Reason charity layer remains in development.
Cardboard Kingdom 2 — Unity In Survival was chosen because its message of homelessness, dignity, unity, rebuilding, and opportunity aligns with the work of Only A Pavement Away and its support for people facing homelessness, prison leavers, and veterans moving toward stable employment.
Digital artefacts are ideal for this stage because they are accessible, affordable, and fulfilment-free — no postage, no physical barriers, only image, story, timeline, and purpose.
Overview
Cardboard Kingdom 2 — Unity In Survival is the second visual artwork created for the Cardboard Kingdom digital artefact series.
It presents the wider homelessness community perspective of the Cardboard Kingdom story: people, support, shared survival, dignity, and the importance of being seen when society looks away.
This is not simply artwork about homelessness as an image.
It is a visual record of community, endurance, support, and the belief that people can rebuild when dignity, opportunity, and human connection are restored.
Tone
Human.
Collective.
Dignified.
No pity.
No exploitation.
Just visibility, unity, and purpose.
Position Within the Artwork Series
If the first artwork shows the personal survival perspective, this second artwork shows the wider homelessness community.
The people gathered together represent shared survival, not defeat. The street setting represents hardship, but also human connection. The act of giving, helping, or standing together represents the rebuilding layer.
The cardboard element represents homelessness reality — but not as an ending. It becomes a symbol of message, visibility, and the need for opportunity.
The Three Layers
Layer 1 — Homelessness Reality
This artwork reflects the lived reality of homelessness: street survival, cold conditions, unstable shelter, isolation, and the need for dignity, support, and practical routes forward.
Layer 2 — MR39-7 Timeline Reality
This artwork connects to the MR39-7 timeline and the lived process of being driven toward homelessness. The major drive toward homelessness began in the first week of November 2022. The homeless period became physical reality on 25 July 2024 after leaving the Death Flat. The road continued through southeast England, into France in 2025, and remains active in 2026.
Layer 3 — Unity and Giving Back
This artwork turns survival into contribution. The message is not hate or division. It is awareness, dignity, unity, rebuilding, opportunity, and giving back.
